Sneakers, Clothes, Streetwear and Fashion have taken over the world in ways people could never have expected. With social media influencers, musicians, movie stars and athletes constantly in the public light, finding good style has become more sought after than ever. From Tik Tok influencers to athletes, finding shoes and clothes that people will like has become a main stay in the modern age. Never in a million years did anyone ever expect that Nike Shoes would be selling for thousands of dollars, sometimes even tens of thousands of dollars. Below are FOUR easy steps to become involved in the sneaker resell game. To make profit off those who have found hobbies in sneakers and other streetwear items.

1. Fall in Love With Thrifting

Thrift stores have become an amazing way to find items to resell. Items in thrift stores all over the country usually range anywhere from $3-$10 depending on the item. For example, a vintage t-shirt found in thrift stores usually cost a customer $3.99. Vintage shirts have become a hot commodity in the new age trends. These $3.99 shirts have the potential to sell for upwards of $80 depending on the shirt.

Vintage rock band tees, old sports teams and universities are great options to look for.

2. Constantly Look on Streetwear Apps

  • Stock X
  • Goat
  • Grailed
  • Supreme App
  • Nike SNKRS App

All of these applications are constantly uploading or releasing new items on the daily. For someone just getting into the industry, applications like Stock X, GOAT, and Grailed are great ways to go for second hand items. For example, Stock X is receiving shoes from all around the world on a daily basis, alongside clothing items and other collectables. There is no shortage of items being sold on a daily basis among these applications.

On the other hand, applications from companies such as Supreme or Nike have company branded drops regularly. Supreme is one of the largest streetwear brands in the world. Supreme has two separate 15 week windows where each week they drop new items. These items have the potential to sell 2x to 4x the MSRP. People across the world have camped outside stores for these drops in order to flip these items for profit.

The most recent example of reselling came when two watch companies, OMEGA x SWATCH dropped a collaboration watch known as the MOONSWATCH. This sought after item retailed for $260.00. On eBay as of April 10th, 2022, these one month old watches are selling for $2,600 dollars. 10x the retail price.

3. Do Not Be Afraid of Negotiation

“The beautiful thing about streetwear is everyone has a their own style.”

Ryan Cicci

There are no set values when it comes to streetwear selling. What may seem like garbage to one can be a treasure to another. Since all of these items are second hand, they are only worth what someone is willing to pay for them. If a seller believes an item is $450 but nobody wants to pay that, you do not have to. As a seller there is total freedom to charge whatever price it is that you want. Rare items are the ones that tend to always be prices higher. From watches to sneakers, people want what others cannot have. In the instant gratification era, people are constantly worried about their perception from their peers. Buying $2,000 shoes because other people cannot have them is a real occurrence that happens all the time. Patience has become apart of the art.

4. Have Fun With the Process

The hunt can sometimes be better than the reward. Looking for items is sometimes better than the item itself.

Not every resell item is going to be a home run. Much of the profit is going to come in $40-80 increments.

Use social media as a tool to search. The best part of social media is there is no third party taking a sellers fee.

Direct person to person selling is where the items will be the cheapest. Do not be afraid to make offers that will allow you to make profit when you sell the item.
