Establish your goals to fuel dedication

After you put in some thought and become specific with your goals you now know what you are working for. When assigning yourself these goals give yourself a time limit to accomplish them. The purpose for the time limit is so you are strict with yourself in making sure that you are putting in the work necessary to complete your goals in that time period. This is not rushing your goals this is you scheduling your hard work and to track yourself. You may put in work and even more and still don’t reach your goals but you know you’re on the right track so therefore you still have to be patient, continue to trust the process and know that success is near.

Ask yourself these questions.

  • Why am I doing this in the first place?
  • What brought me on this journey to work on my self discipline?
  • Am I happy where I am in life? If not, why? Am I doing everything possible?

Discover your weaknesses in order to build self discipline

Evaluate yourself and figure out what you need to work on so you can maximize your chances of success. In this evaluation be truthful with yourself. Take time and really think what is hindering you. Think about what made you realize that things have to change. The journey of self discipline is long and unique to every person. We all have things to work on. Things are going to consistently pop-up that you will notice that you have to improve on. Self discipline is a lifelong process. You will always have something to improve on that’s not bad at all. Actually, that’s good because your consistently putting effort into building yourself up.

Acknowledge the possibility of struggles

Learn how to work with the struggles in self discipline

You will not always feel motivated. You will not always be in the mood or happy of becoming self disciplined. You might have days where you think your goals are not worth achieving. You may have days that you want quit. The journey will not always be fun. One thing the journey will always be, is worth it. What some people don’t realize is that SELF DISCIPLINE BECOMES A LIFE JOURNEY! Why?! Because you want to be great and greatness is a never ending journey because you know you can always be better in any and everything you DO! It may seem that you would like an easy lifestyle, or like things to be easier for you, but when you work at something then to finally accomplish your goals, you realize that all those struggles where worth something. This journey is equipped with lessons. The times where you feel like you don’t want to work out, the times where you don’t want to go into the office or times where you don’t want to put in extra hours, and you end up putting in those extra hours you notice that you feel good after. After going the extra mile you’ll feel thankful that you pushed yourself. The extra reps or extra work you put in that caused pain, you will learn overtime that pain is only temporary and that same pain will make you stronger and will later contribute to your success.

Maintain consistency!

Self discipline and consistency go hand and hand. You cannot have one without the other. If you continue to put in work the results will show. When you don’t feel motivated, stay consistent. Consistency will bring back your motivation. Sometimes it will feel better said than done but you have to continue to break down those mental roadblocks that are trying to keep you down and push through because one moment can mess up a journey of hard work so don’t allow that one moment to have the possibility of messing up your journey of self-discipline in your path to your goals. You must make your goals and self-discipline a priority. There will be times where you will be tested with more fun things to do, people may try to convince you to become distracted and say things such as “it’s not that serious” or “you have time”. Things might pop up that make you question, “how can I do this?” but you have to find a way. Not only find a way one time but every time your consistency is at risk.

Break bad Habits and replace them with good ones

What are somethings you are doing that hindering you from being successful? Procrastination? Laziness? You already know what you have been doing before is not giving you the results that you want, therefore you have to change up something or implement different practices or methods in order for you to become better. Become comfortable with being uncomfortable because un-comfortability allows you to react and work on things that you don’t want to which helps you become better overall and become more prepared and driven. Don’t sell yourself short, it wont help! If your going to do something do it to the best of your ability, and that’s for anything in life!

Accomplishments

Accomplishing goals are just checkpoints in your journey of self-discipline. You may spend years chasing one goal but eventually when you accomplish that goal you will form another goal that you want to accomplish. Continuing to form goals stemming from previous goals that are accomplished is a testament of greatness. Becoming great is a factor within the self-discipline journey which is a lifelong journey. To be great, there is something you’re always chasing because you’re always working on yourself. Greatness is something you build upon and maintain therefore self-discipline is a pillar of greatness.

Final tips for the journey!

As I stated before it will not be easy but you are built for this. No need need to fear failure because failure consists of lessons and humbling experiences that can be used for fuel.
