First Things First, Let’s Talk How To Grow Healthy Nails By Establishing The Perfect Nail Care Routine For YOU!
What helped me when I was starting out was imagining my nails as tiny superheroes. This helped me create a personalized nail bootcamp. Through regular training and practice, I’ve mastered how to grow healthy nails that stay strong and maintain long term length.
I used to think growing healthy, long nails were impossible. My life changed when I established these 5 steps into my nail care routine and learned how to grow healthy nails.
1. Buffing Time!: Grab a gentle nail buffer (I like to think of it like a mini polisher for my nails!) and buff away any ridges or unevenness on your nail plate. This creates a smooth canvas for your polish and helps it last longer. Remember, be gentle though! Buffing too hard can damage your nails.
2. Trim Time!: Now that your nails are nice and smooth, it’s time to give them a shape. Nail clippers are your best friend here. I recommend clipping your nails straight across to avoid ingrown nails (ouch!). If you prefer rounded or pointed tips, use a nail file to gently shape them after clipping.
3. Hydration Hero: I learned the hard way that just like your skin needs moisture, so do your nails! Cuticle oil is my secret weapon (even keep a mini in my purse). Packed with goodness, it helps keep your cuticles (the little skin around your nails) soft and healthy. This prevents hangnails (those pesky little tears) and keeps your nails looking polished (pun intended!). I like to apply a drop of cuticle oil every night before bed and massage it gently.
4. Base Coat Boss: My manicures never lasted longer than a week, until I started with a base coat! This acts like a superhero shield, protecting your nails from staining and helping your polish last longer. I like to think of it like a super important first layer for your nail art masterpiece!
5. Top Coat It Off: Once you’ve painted your nails with your favorite color, seal the deal with a top coat! This adds an extra layer of shine and protection, preventing chipping and keeping your mani looking flawless for days.
Now That You’ve Got Your Nail Care Routine Down, Let’s Talk About Protecting Our Precious Nails! ️

Your nails might be mini, but they’re mighty important! Here’s how I keep my nails safe from harm:
Glove Up!: Washing dishes, cleaning the house – these chores might be necessary evils, but they’re not exactly friendly to your nails. Harsh chemicals can dry them out and make them brittle. Become a glove-wearing pro! Popping on gloves whenever you’re tackling messy tasks will protect your nails from the yucky stuff.
Say No to Nail Biting!: I know, sometimes nail biting is a nervous habit. But not only is it not the best look, it can also damage your nails. Try fidget toys, stress balls, or even painting your nails with a clear coat as deterrents.
Take Nail Breaks: While press-on nails or acrylics can look amazing, they can put a strain on your natural nails if done incorrectly. Discover The Best Nail Treatment For Stunning Results. If you do go the fake nail route, give your nails a break in between applications and use a gentle nail strengthener to help them recover.
My Do’s And Don’ts For Nail Nirvana!

Here’s a quick cheat sheet on how to grow healthy nails:
Do:
Eat a healthy diet: Just like the rest of your body, your nails need good nutrition to grow strong. I try to incorporate fruits, veggies, and foods rich in protein and biotin (like eggs and nuts).
Wear sunscreen on your hands: Yes, really! The sun’s rays can damage your nails just like your skin. Apply sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher to your hands whenever you’ll be spending time outdoors.
Moisturize your hands: Happy hands mean happy nails! Using a good hand lotion regularly will keep your hands and cuticles hydrated, which indirectly benefits your nails.
Don’ts:
Don’t skip the base coat: I know, sometimes we just want to jump straight to the fun part – the pretty polish colors! But skipping the base coat is a big no-no. It protects your nails from staining and helps your polish last longer.
Don’t forget to remove polish properly: Peeling off nail polish is a recipe for disaster! It can rip off layers of your nail plate, leading to weakening and damage. Use a gentle, acetone-free nail polish remover to remove your polish. Soak a cotton ball in the remover and gently swipe it over your nails until the polish comes off.
Don’t overdo the nail polish: While we all love a good mani, constantly having polish on your nails can actually weaken them. Give your nails a break in between polishes to allow them to breathe. During this time, focus on your nail care routine to keep them healthy and strong.
